At Proactive Health Chiropractic located in Plainview, we see a wide variety of ailments. Below are some of the more frequently asked questions regarding chiropractic and what to expect with treatments.

Q: What conditions do chiropractors treat?

A: Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. DCs are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain, and headaches...particularly with their highly skilled manipulations or chiropractic adjustments. They also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, involving the muscles, ligaments, and joints. These painful conditions often involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant from the region of injury. The benefits of chiropractic care extend to general health issues, as well, since our body structure affects our overall function. DCs also counsel patients on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modification.

Dr. Nelson has had unique personalized training by some of the top Chiropractors in the world, and Dr. Nelson uses these treatments and adjustments on every patient. He focuses on the whole body so he is able to identify and treat a magnitude of injuries and ailments.

Q: Are adjustments safe?

A: Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of most back and neck problems. Spinal adjustments are extremely safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor.  Dr. Nelson has adjusted babies minutes and days old dealing with colic and latching issues, to geriatric patients who are dealing with vertigo, as well as everything between.

Q: How do I find a good chiropractor?

A: One of the best ways to select a chiropractor is to get a referral from someone you trust.  Here at Proactive Health Chiropractic in Liberty Lake, we take pride in the amount of word of mouth referrals sent to our office every day!

Q: Can I see a chiropractor if I am pregnant?

A: Many pregnant women find that chiropractic adjustments improve the pregnancy experience and make delivery easier. Adjustments are adapted to accommodate the stage of pregnancy and the unique needs of each patient.  While Dr. Nelson was learning pregnancy adjustments his wife was pregnant with their daughter, so he was able to put to use everything he learned daily and treats many pregnant women and babies.  They now have five babies and all have been adjusted.

Q: Why do adjustments sometimes make a popping sound?

A: The noises you hear resembling popping sounds are your joints releasing tiny pockets of air. A chiropractic adjustment does not affect the bones of either side of a joint; it affects the connective tissue that holds the joint together replacing the bones back to their optimal location.

Q: Will the adjustments hurt?

A: The majority of adjustments result in a tremendous relief of pain. There are some positions that may be more uncomfortable than others but Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to feel the amount of resistance the restriction poses and use only the necessary amount of force to make the correction.

Q: How long will my care take? "Will I have to go for the rest of my life?"

A: While everyone's condition will require a different treatment plan and length, the goal of Proactive Health Chiropractic is to get you to your best you as fast and effectively as possible. What makes us different in Liberty Lake is, yes we want you to come back for life as a patient, but on your terms. We do not force long-term plans or unnecessary treatments and look to fix the issue in a timely fashion so you can get back to doing the things you love to do!
